Let's Get Acquainted! The Western Nebraska Home Educators Network (WNHEN) is a family oriented, open minded, member driven, grace based Christian network doing His will, for His glory, in His strength. Our network exists to support homeschooling families with educational opportunities that enhance their homeschool experience and we strive to do this with respect, compassion and tolerance toward one another. Our ministry is to serve ALL homeschooling families or families considering homeschooling regardless of their reasons for homeschooling, religious beliefs or political affiliations. It was deeply placed on our founder's hearts to develop a member driven grace based homeschool network that accepts people as they are. We desire to be a community that is actively engaged in this diverse and beautiful world. At the same time, some of us are on a journey of deepening our spiritual practices rooted in Christian tradition and following the teachings of Jesus. You'll see signs of this quest in most of our events and some activities will be more deeply grounded in Christian practices. Members of our network are free to participate in whichever events they feel most comfortable with because we are a member driven grace based network and we openly allow our members the right to make their own decisions based on their beliefs. Whether you are a long-time Christian, someone seeking God, or a non-Christian, we believe you will find our network to be an invaluable resource to you and your family. Our Name WNHEN stands for the Western Nebraska Home Educators Network. It is pronounced "when". The name originated from the area we serve, which is about a 100 mile radius of Eastern Wyoming and Western Nebraska. From Harrison to Sidney, Oshkosh to Guernsey, Wyoming and many towns in between. Our
Emphasis Homeschooling is the Western Nebraska Home Educators Network major emphasis because we believe the call to homeschool is first and foremost from God. It is our desire, as a network, to support and encourage ALL homeschooling families in their endeavors to faithfully train and educate their children at home. Our Objectives The Western Nebraska Home Educators Network was formed for homeschool and educational purposes. The objectives of our network include:
Our Membership WNHEN is a family oriented network. Membership in the network is open to all homeschooling families or families who intend to homeschool in the near future. Membership is also open to non-homeschooling adults (age 18 and above) who have a desire to share their knowledge, expertise or resources with homeschooling families in our network. All non-homeschoooling adults participating in the network events must support and uphold the networks objectives and abide by the network's by-laws. The network does not require our members to sign a statement of faith or require any religious test as a condition for membership or service. Membership in the Western Nebraska Home Educators Network shall not be denied based on race, religious beliefs, political preference, ethnic background or for any other reason. Our Leadership Our founders knew from previous experience that a handful of homeschooling parents could not meet the needs of all the members. They realized that homeschooling was changing and were also aware of the hectic pace most homeschooling families were facing. Our founders acknowledged that they could not meet every need of every member, only God can do this, and therefore WNHEN's member driven grace based network was created. The Western Nebraska Home Educators Network is a member driven network giving our members the right to make their own decisions based on their own beliefs. Our network operates through individual members and groups of individuals who create opportunities for themselves and their fellow homeschoolers anytime they like. The network is controlled by the members who actively volunteer to create opportunities, participate on committee's and set polices. As a grace based network we accept members for who they are and welcome their participation and ideas. However, this does not mean that we always agree on how things are done or what is offered. When this happens we, the members, are free to offer an alternative. When members offer activities and events to other members of the network they only claim ownership and responsibility for what they have chosen to offer. Our Board of Directors The purpose of the Board of Directors is to conduct all the network business. The Western Nebraska Home Educators Network Board consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Network Director, Cooperative Coordinator and Support Group Coordinator. All Board positions are volunteer positions. These men and women are serving as network representatives responsible for taking care of the business matters of the network. Board members are only accountable to the membership for those duties which are so stated in the WNHEN by-laws. Board members are not responsible for planning activities, events or teaching classes unless so stated within the Western Nebraska Home Educators Network by-laws. |
